Large Format Tile Bathroom RemodelOversized Tile, One Seamless Look.

A full bathroom built around oversized 48 × 48 porcelain tile, with a freestanding tub, a separate glass shower, and a privacy wall.

THE PROJECT

About this project

  • Oversized 48 × 48 porcelain tile
  • Freestanding soaking tub with a chrome floor-mounted filler
  • Separate glass-enclosed shower
  • Hex mosaic shower floor and a recessed niche
  • Partition wall between the shower and the toilet

This bathroom remodel came together around one standout feature: oversized 48 × 48 porcelain tiles. Their large size lets the marble-look pattern spread across each piece, with fewer grout lines breaking up the look.

We paired the tile with a freestanding tub and a separate shower, giving the client space for both a relaxing soak and an everyday shower. The glass-enclosed shower carries the oversized tile up the walls, with a hex mosaic floor, chrome fixtures, and a recessed niche.

Between the shower and the toilet, we added a partition wall for privacy. The toilet area uses the same oversized floor tile, with a coordinated gray-and-white palette that runs through the whole room.

Each feature has its own place, while the oversized tile brings the whole bathroom together.

PROJECT QUESTIONS

Questions about this project

What was included in this large format tile bathroom remodel?

The remodel used oversized 48 × 48 porcelain tile, a freestanding soaking tub, a separate glass-enclosed shower with a hex mosaic floor and recessed niche, and a partition wall between the shower and the toilet.

What are the benefits of large format tile in a bathroom?

Large format tiles such as 48 × 48 mean far fewer grout lines, so floors and walls look more continuous and are easier to clean. They need a very flat surface and careful setting, which is planned before tiling starts.

Can a bathroom have a freestanding tub and a separate shower?

Often, yes. It depends on the room size, drain locations, and clearances. A separate tub and shower give space for both a relaxing soak and a quick everyday shower, as in this project.

Do you install large format tile in Bay Area bathrooms?

Yes. Avis Builders and Design remodels bathrooms with large format porcelain tile in San Jose and across the Bay Area. Every project starts with a free in-home consultation.
